new collection: girl friends

I’m so happy to share with you my new line of fabric, “Girl Friends.” The inspiration behind this line comes from my closest friends, a group of five girls. We live in different cities, but each year we get together. New memories are formed and adventures are shared, just like my new line Girl Friends. Their first adventure . . . mermaids.
There’s seven main characters of the collection, each with their own little personality.
I started drawing this girl when I was eight or nine years old. I would draw her over and over in my sketch pad. She was a ballerina, always wore her hair in a bun and loved the color pink. It’s such a sweet feeling to see her on fabric.
Fabric shops can order beginning mid-September. It will start shipping December.

This is definitely my favourite collection to date of yours (and I have only seen this sneak preview)….I am in love…I have 3 daughters 4 years and under who will LOVE this on their clothes, quilts and dolls!!!! Your story of sketching the little ballerina since you were young rings true to me, as I have 2 little characters I have drawn in the exact same way since I was 6…they are doodled on EVERYTHING to this day….(maybe I will have some of mine printed on fabric at spoonflower!)…

OMG! Love this. It looks like a real group of girlfriends, all different shades of people. I can’t wait to make my little girl a dress out of this. I wonder what the rest of the collection will look like?
I forgot to ask in my previous comment from last week….are there going to be new Co-ordinates available to go with this line? Or do they go with some of the previous, urban zoology and remix ones? I am in Canada, and I want to make my 3 daughters mermaid bedding (quilt, sheets, pillowcase) with this fabric and since it doesn’t come out till December and takes 3 weeks to ship from the US to Canada in December, I need to have my plan READY ! (to make them in time for xmas!) Keep up the excellent work…I lOVE it all!

Hi Michelle, That is going to be so cute. My sister wants bedding made out of the mermaids, too:) Yes, they will coordinate with some of the previous lines. Which one are you planning on using and maybe I can give you a little bit more help.
Well, it looks like there are 3 colourways on the mermaids…so I was thinking a different one for each daughter (to elimanate the inevitable fights)…and then 1 or 2 co-ordinates for pillow case trim and the quilt binding. I was thinking a “whole cloth” quilt would be easiest and fastest. Which of the previous lines would match with the colours in the Mermaids? I like dots, stripes and chevron…
Hi Michelle, They would go with the aqua, pink, yellow, orange and lime green Remix dots. As far as stripes and chevron, you’d probably have to make that call for yourself. I think you might be able to make the one with the pink and orange work with the Remix “garden” collection, but it the green is slightly differently in the Mermaid fabric. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
This is the cutest fabric I have ever seen! My daughter (almost 3) loves mermaids, mainly because of the bubble guppies. This will make a darling dress (and so much more!). As a mom I especially appreciate that these sweet mermaids are modest, no belly’s hanging out. LOVE LOVE LOVE that! Can’t wait!

Any hope of a Girlfriends Fairy print being added in the future?
I was wondering where I can find the blue/green and pink/orange mermaids with white background. I’m only seeing the pool and tropical fabric.

I believe this blue/green color way was discontinued. However, the tropical color (pink and orange) way is still available.
